Suggestions for Tying Household Chores to Kids Allowance

A friend suggested tying the incentive of allowance to household chores. This isn't a new idea, but it's a quantitative list associating specific chores to a monetary value. The rules of implementation may need to vary, for example your home may not match the configuration implied here, and your children may have a different sense of financial expectations. That said, adjusting the suggestions is a simple proposition.

Chore Opportunities:

  Daily:
___ 1 Family Room* (Including the Dining Area, Entry, Closet, Hall, and Stairs)
___ 1 Kitchen* (Including the Laundry Area)
___ 1 Master Bedroom* (Including the Closet and walk space)
___ 1 Bathrooms* (Up and Downstairs)
___ 1 Loft* (The playroom, the Bedroom, the Hall and Closet)
___ 1 Patio* (Including the Front Entry Landing, and Stairs)
___ 1 Office* (Special arrangements have to be made for this... talk to Dad)

*All of these items need to be done for each daily chore above:
      1. Pick up any loose items,
      2. Vacuum when necessary,
      3. Wipe down counter tops,
      4. Dust when necessary

  Weekly:
___ 3 Empty Trash (Includes tying off bags and walking them down to the garage trash)
___ 3 Scrub Bath, Shower, Sinks, Toilets, Floors, and Mirrors
___ 3 Wash Windows (Kitchen, Office, Upstairs Bedroom, and Patio)
___ 3 Laundry (gather all laundry, separate loads, wash/dry, fold and put away)

Notes:

Compensation: Allowance is based on these jobs. To be credited you need confirmation
from an adult that you coordinated to do a specific job, and then that you
actually did it. To determine the value: Multiply the number beside the
  chore by $1.00 per week.

Intervals: The chores are broken down into daily, weekly, and possibly monthly. These
are the intervals. To get compensation, you cannot do the chores more frequently than
outlined in the interval. In other words... if you "empty" the trash every day... you
only get paid for it once a week. (EXCEPTION: If we find that the intervals are too
long for given items, we can reassign that job to a shorter interval.)

Note: If no one does these, the rooms will get more and more dirty and the job will
get harder. You will be forced to do the job at some point with or without
compensation, so it's in your best interest to do the job at the interval
  implied above.
